As part of my position with the Oklahoma Pork Council, I was afforded the opportunity to spend a few days on the west coast for a state communicator's meeting where I networked with colleagues in similar positions across the country, toured the port and explored the city.

I've been a few places. Some rural [Argentina, Nicaragua] some very much urban [London, Paris] - and, now I've been to China. Or the town, rather, in San Francisco. This was both.

Surrounded by a concrete playground, Chinatown, had very rural connections.

First, due to lack of space in living quarters most people lack quality cooling appliances [refrigerators, icebox, cooler].

So, they mosey on down to the market and make purchases multiple times per day.

Their choice of protein is a little different than my liking, but to each their own.

Frogs, anyone?

Everything moved so quickly: delivery trucks on every corner, butchers getting right to work, cooks getting an early start on the day and customers quick to spend their hard-earned paychecks.

Just  delivering the day's product to the local butcher, no big deal.

I'm thankful for the experience. Life rule: never pass on an opportunity to expand your horizons.
