Beavers Bend State Park and Hochatown, Oklahoma, by Camper
I’m an Ember RV Brand Ambassador, which means that I am compensated for my recommendations. That does not mean I’m influenced in any way about what my recommendations include. Because the truth is I reached out to them and convinced them I was the right person for this job. Because I adore their product, their branding, and their humans.

For many, Oklahoma brings thoughts of the Wild Wild West, cowboys, open ranges, and endless skies, and while much of that is true, it also offers the nation’s most diverse terrain claiming the Southern Plains, Coastal Plains, Southern Appalachians, and the Temperate plains.
For travelers, this means Oklahoma’s variety ensures endless adventure opportunities.
We took our Ember RV Overland Series 221MDB to the heart of the Ouachita Mountains and set up camp at Beavers Bend State Park next to the Mountain Fork River, which is a 98-mile-long tributary of the Little River, which also happens to be part of the watershed of the Mississippi River.
Beavers Bend State Park’s 3,482 acres offers 47 cabins, 393 campsites, and more than 50 tent sites throughout eight camping areas, with easy online reservations available and on-site waste dump stations.
The latter, a must-have for RV camping.
With our chocolate lab, Australian shepherd puppy, and toddler in tow, we focused on family-friendly means and activities: walks, collecting leaves, and taking a spin on the C.P. Huntington S.P. train replica, which as you can imagine was a toddler’s delight, and collecting rocks alongside the cart path on the golf course.
Hochatown is a thriving tourism town with breweries, candy shops, ATV and boat rental and even a bowling alley. Honestly, this trip gave summer camp vibes.
The best part of our trip, however, was hanging out at the campsite. We gave our campfire pizza recipe another spin and watched movies under the "Stargazer" European dual pane acrylic skylight, which is still my favorite feature in our Ember.
